Bruno Mars Sets Pop Songs Record & rewrites BB chart history

Mars passes Nelly and Timberlake for the most Pop Songs No. 1s among men. Timberlake, meanwhile, takes over atop Rhythmic.
Bruno Mars rewrites Billboard chart history, as "When I Was Your Man" rises 2-1 on the Nielsen BDS-based Pop Songs radio airplay tally. The song marks Mars' sixth No. 1, pushing him past Nelly and Justin Timberlake for the most leaders among solo male artists in the chart's 20-year archives. (Katy Perry and Rihanna lead all acts with nine No. 1s each.)
Amazingly, Mars has reached the record since arriving on Pop Songs just more than three years ago. He first charted the week of March 6, 2010, as a guest on B.o.B's "Nothin' on You," which reigned the week of May 22, 2010. Also laudable, he's ruled with five of his six single releases as a lead act. "Just the Way You Are" (three weeks, 2010) and "Grenade" (five, 2011) led from his debut album "Doo-Wops & Hooligans." (Third single "The Lazy Song" reached No. 3).
"It Will Rain," from the "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 1" soundtrack, led the week of Feb. 4, 2012, while "Locked Out of Heaven" (five weeks, 2012-13) preceded "Man" from Mars' second album, and first Billboard 200 No. 1, "Unorthodox Jukebox."
Also notable: "Man" is the first piano-and-vocal-only No. 1 in the Pop Songs chart's history. Previously, Adele's "Someone Like You" (No. 2, 2011) had come closest to commanding the chart; still, "Someone" is the only such No. 1 in the Billboard Hot 100's 54-year archives.

This is so dumb Can't believe Someone Like You had the same problem as Umbrella and I Kissed A Girl: Huge Iconic Hot 100 #1 hits blocked on Pop radio by forgettable songs that didn't even peak in the Top 3 on The Hot 100

But congrats to Bruno!
