This Was Pop '99: Top Ten Reviled
THIS WAS POP '99
1999, in hindsight, was a very interesting year in pop. MARIAH, the decade's best selling artist, released her 9th album in 9 years. Her soured relationship with studio head Tommy Motolla made her churn out this album in three months, just so she can get out of her contract. JENNIFER, an actress, was being molded by Tommy Motolla to replace Mariah. GERI, of Spice Girls fame and leaving the Spice Girls infamy, wants to show the world that she's the Robbie Williams of the group. And lastly, TLC needed to prove that they can still be successful after the legal problems they faced against their record company.
Four entertaining entertainers, four enjoyable albums, but only one song will win. Who will take the crown as 1999's ultimate pop song?
