Discussion: last.fm Radio

As you may or may not know, last.fm has a great little radio feature that can be adjusted to suit different genres and tastes. I thought it would be fun if we took advantage of this feature, and used it as a way to discover new music, brought to us by our fellow ATRL members.

Unlike typical recommendation threads where you just suggest songs you like at the moment, the song that will be presented to your counter-part will be a surprise to you both. It could be a song you're currently in love with, or a song you haven't heard in years - all that's certain is that it will be a song from your library.

Together, this thread can turn into our own little personal ATRL radio station.

Keep in mind: the goal of this thread isn't to boost your post count and advertise your last.fm. You should use this thread as an opportunity to discover new music, and someone to discuss that music with - as well as share your music, and find someone new to discuss your favourite artists/songs with.

How this will work:

> Simply click on the URL in current last post in the thread
> Listen to the first song that plays on their station
> Post your thoughts (not just the title of the song) on that song in this thread
> Include a URL to your personal radio along with the above message

I'm not as familiar with Speak Now. I like the chorus a lot. Ours has a bright sound and I like the lyrics. "I'll fight their doubt and give you faith" "I like the gap between your teeth and I love the riddles that you speak"

Thanks! and yup, you are doing it exactly right - so is everyone else!

"Speak Now" is probably tied for my second favourite Taylor album, along with 1989. "Ours" is easily one of my favourite songs on the album! It's so cute how she paints the scene for an average blue collar worker, rather than a celebrity. It's a really cute song, and always makes me smile.

My favourite lines are, "And the verdict comes from those with nothing else to do
The jury's out, but my choice is you" and "life makes love look hard"

You should become more familiar with "Speak Now" - it's honestly one of the best albums I've ever heard, and there are so many gems on there! Plus, it' has the most perfect almost pop, but not quite there yet, country sound.

@Santaus: Loreen – "Paper Light (Higher)"

This is the first time I have heard this song! The only Loreen song I've heard before this was, surprise surprise, "Euphoria".

but, I really like this! I love how uplifting the production is without overdoing it. Her voice is really mesmerizing, too.

I think it's qt but it sounds like it could be on Heal, she should experiment more, not necessarily change her music direction but play with the instruments/beats/etc.

I picked up the Deluxe recently and need to seriously need to spend some quality time with Taylor and Speak Now.

Also, I had no idea this last.fm feature existed. I spend a good half hour listening to my own station

I listened to Gravity by sara bareilles on Ash Hemmo's station.

It's a pretty good song. Slow, reflective, and beautiful. I've heard it before and it's not a song I listen to regularly but it's a good song.
