Singing is considered more important, although some artists can do neither (eg Taylor)

Because it's played out. K-Pop is still playing catch to 90's Western Pop. We already had an era of Janet, Britney, N'Sync and it's only so many times you can watch a Band do the same style of chereo before it gets stale. Western Pop tends to avoid recreating the wheel which is why it's still the standard.

dancing isnt a thing anymore in the era of biebers and lyric videos... also singers can just stand there and lipsync in the mV and let dancers do their thang in the background but they dont even do that..

Streaming introduced pop artists that were "indie" and not cut from the same cloth as the pop stars we had up until around 2012. As streaming increased and became the standard, pop artists of last decade either adapted or started falling off.

it never gets stale (there are so many styles and formations you never thought possible) nor are they playing catch up. If anything, we're the ones that are so so far behind and that is why the current pop scene is so boring and music videos have lost their appeal.

I'm glad dancing is not as prevalent as it used to be.
