Oh yes, it's that time again - our/my annual ATRL list!

Graphics will come later obviously.



We should take cues from 1999's superlative list, and not so much 2012's misbegotten one. Think CLASSIC and actually GREAT.

Rules are simple: Send me a ranked list of your fifteen favorite female musicians of ALL TIME.

Some caveats:

- No female fronted bands - but you can submit female lead singers! (eg Courtney Love - yes. Hole - no.)

- Girl groups ARE included!

Votes due by March 20th!

Oh btw - a special group of users will act as super-delegates; their votes will count 3x as many as everyone else's. (Quality control and all that!)

The superdelegates will make this super interesting. Can't even predict a top twenty, which is great!

The 2012 list. Oh my god. I just looked it up and I remember the thread about it.

I never realized that women were ineligible if they hadn't had a hit in twenty years. That's an interesting way to leave out basically all of the actual greatest women ever.

May have to sit my fave at #2 in favor of someone else

I know, right? A TRAVESTY. And it was voted on by, like, people? The 1999 list is so great because other artists chose the list. Peers >> ignorami in the public sphere.

Taking into account the POWER of the superdelegates, if I had to guess I would imagine our top 25 will shake out like this (in no particular order):

Hell. We would be LUCKY if our top 25 turned out like this. It's a bit light on the country ladies (Loretta, Patsy, Tammy, Linda, Emmylou), but I would expect that from ATRL.

Swap Adele, Gaga, and Britney for Madonna, Bette, and Loretta / Patsy and I think that this would be a pretty solid top 25.



Can we nullify any list with Lana Del Rey, any Disney girl (including X and BS), and/or Katy Perry?
