Welcome to ATRL's Best of 2010! It's the most wonderful time of the year, and it's time for you to give us your best.
So, what does that mean? Let's break it down. All year long, you're invited to count down your favorite music over in the Your Top Ten area. But at the end of the year, the focus turns to the best music of the entire year, according to you.
Best of 2010 is, hands down, the best thing to happen on ATRL all year. By far. So you better enjoy it. But you need to understand these really important things first:
1. It's your countdown
You get
one thread per year; that's it.
No one else gets to
vote on your countdown, period. Your thread is all about
you.
2. Start with an intro
Use your
first post to tell us what you're going to do. Are you going to list your top songs, singles, videos, or albums of the year... or your favorite artists, concerts, TV shows, movies, actors, video games, books, whatever else? It's all up to you.
Let us know first, and get into the actual list later.
3. Don't post all at once
The most important part! You want to post your countdown(s) in
installments over the
span of about 2 to 3 weeks. For example, if you have one list of 50 songs, post it in daily blocks of 5 or so. The suspense makes things
interesting.
4. Use words and pictures
Nobody cares about your list if you don't tell us why you chose what you chose.
Describe every item on your list with at least a full sentence. If you add
pictures and graphics, that's even better.
5. Actively participate
We encourage you to
support each other's threads. Reply with your
comments, along with a crazy random picture or anything else to let them know you're supporting them. That's most of the fun in this.
You can't just post "7/10" or whatever. You need to tell them what you liked!
Be supportive; it's the holidays, dammit!
6. Limited time only
This year, the Best of 2010 area will be open and fully promoted until
Monday, January 31, 2011. You must complete your entire countdown by that date, because the Best of 2010 area will close for posting.
Now, it's your turn. Start posting!
