This is what I wonder when the PC police want everyone to call blacks "African-American" when most of them don't even know where their roots are like Raven said. Also here in Miami there are more blacks from the Caribbean countries, so it's not right to assume someone is African just cause of their skin.
In a perfect world i would love to live like this and without labels but unfortunately there's other people in the world. And its kinda funny maybe am just one of those people who over thinks but isn't by saying she's an "American" she's already labelling herself or even by saying she's a "human" ? Kinda funny to think about
has nothing to do with your lineage. I connect with Unicorns, but I'm still a human being at the end of the day.
Bye, she doesn't know her roots, but she is quick to label herself an "American" just as long as "African" isn't in front of it because MAYBE her roots aren't in Africa.

All black people are originally from Africa so I don't get her point.
And it makes me so uncomfortable when people say 'blacks' instead of 'black PEOPLE', it's so dehumanising

Is she really that unaware of her origins. The black people in the Caribbean Islands are of African descent. They are the slaves from Africa that got sold for Rum on the Caribbean Islands before they reached America. The educational system in our country has failed us.

I think she should feel free to label herself or refer to herself as whatever she pleases without being policed and harangued by people who don't even know her.
