You act as if she never has tho. And her last album was number one, sold 3.4 million with two platinum singles; hardly the definition of commercial unsuccessful -- especially in this climate. I don't see very many of the people in your siggy doing it.
And she's currently on tour with no new album that's grossed over 92 million from only the first two legs. How many current pop acts can you name that can do that (or would even attempt it for that matter)? She's in a different league of celebrity and unlike most, her cultural relevance and overall media presence and ubiquity isn't dictated by her last Hot 100 top ten. Keep trying tho.
