I've been with my boyfriend for about 10 months and I am very happy. But we are always hanging with some of his friends and they are always talking about their "Open Relationship", and it just makes me sick! Different relationship styles work for different couples. I could not be in an open relationship, especially because I am gay. I don't want to widen the chances of getting STDs. On top that, being exclusive makes the relationship even more special If I wanted to keep my options open, then I would simply just do that!

And it is important to know what style works best for you. I agree with the user who said honesty is important. I'd rather my partner tell me he's into open relationships so that we could go on our separate ways, rather than he cheat on me.

I personally don't think I would have an open relationship, but if other people want to then I don't see a problem with it as long as both parties are completely honest. Otherwise, it drifts off into cheating territory (which is bad).

Monogamy is not a gay/straight thing, though many gay men in open relationships will try to tell you otherwise.

I personally believe in monogamy, though I wouldn't be opposed to bringing in a third person every once in a while to spice things up.
