I'm surprised this didn't take off and impact theaters like Saw did. It's less gory but has the same elements. Brittany Snow's performance was amazing. Jeffery Combs did a brilliant job being the host of the game and Sasha Grey has an outstanding smart ass b!tchy attitude.
Basically Brittany Snow (Iris) has a sick brother who needs a medical bone marrow transplant and she went to her hometown to watch over him and try to find ways to pay debt off and get a donor. She has trouble finding a job but gets an offer to join a party host event where she has the opportunity to get all her debt paid off, including her brother getting a proper donor. What she doesn't know is this game she's about to attend has it's cost....including death.
It's like Saw, where you are confronted with deathly situations and if you can't pass the trial, you face the consequences. The only thing I wish could've changed was more "Would you rather's?" I mean they had like 4 rounds. The first and second round were kinda dragging on and on and they go around a table of 8 doing the same question. Very drawn out, but the suspense is there. But I just wanted more "gore" scenes.
This is a highly underated film and I'm glad I randomly came across it. I seriously hope they make a sequel. No more Saw's and every year, just this.
