Discussion: Should we respect religion?

Islam calls for gays' death by throwing us off the tallest building.

Christianity says to stone us and allegedly God flooded the world bc of the gays and perversion.

But we're respectful of religion

I get there are passages which say the opposite, but I don't believe that should cancel this hatred out.

I'm willing to listen though and have my opinion changed – ATRL, what do you think?

If a religion has text which says evil **** like Christianity or Islam, it can only be positively cherry picked for so long.. it will always have the potential to surge a darkness in humanity. But people in Christian nations overlook that because we're fine now

Why should anyone respect these archaic ideologies that promote hatred and deny modern science / logic ? Makes no sense. Somehow it's become a norm that religion is to be respected simply for existing or because others believe in it. White supremacists also have deeply held beliefs yet we don't respect those, for good reason.

And what happened to tolerance? You all were mad at Trump for saying we needed to regulate Muslims coming into America, but now you're OK with disrespecting their beliefs?

Yes, you don't have to agree with it but you shouldn't go out of your way to shame people for believing in what they believe, I'm Christian but I'd never force my beliefs upon anyone or tell them that what they practice is wrong. Not to mention it's moreso the people than the religion nowadays, I know a lot of Christians (like myself) who are very open minded people and accepting but to each it's own.

Yes, respect others. Although, it depends on the person. For instance, if he or she is one of those crazy religious folks, ie. Westboro Baptist Church members, then no. Those people are plain evil and delusional unlike "sane" Christians.
