MIA has claimed that the singer's statement is nothing new and has questioned when people are going to start speaking out about Syrian, Muslim and Pakistani lives.

"It's interesting that in America the problem you're allowed to talk about is Black Lives Matter," she told ES Magazine.

"It's not a new thing to me - it's what Lauryn Hill was saying in the 1990s, or Public Enemy in the 1980s. Is Beyoncé​ or Kendrick Lamar going to say Muslim Lives Matter? Or Syrian Lives Matter? Or this kid in Pakistan matters? That's a more interesting question.

Honestly Beyonce doesn't deserve this hate. I can see why she brought Iggy to the Mrs.Carter Tour and Chimes For Change events. They can relate to each other in many ways honestly. I'm so sad that Beyonce is suffering from all this hate.

She's right but Beyonce is black. Beyonce is championing an issue that is her heritage and hurting her people and affecting the future of her nephew and her daughter.

Yes America and the rest of the Western world are relatively ignorant of the tragedies that go on in thr East (especially Middle East). But that doesn't mean one particular person has to fight for every single cause.

One can be cognizant and aware of the very important and main causes around the world, but you're obviously going to personally connect more with certain causes than others.

She has an interesting point, but one or two people, who aren't even familiar with the culture can't speak specifically on the issues plaguing that community. It would be disingenuous.

You have a voice and a platform... YOU speak up and I'm not talking about that garbage ass music either where people can't understand what you are saying, I'm talking about actually speaking and bringing notice to these issues instead of worrying wtf someone else is doing.

Also she's not hating on Beyonce. She used her as an example of someone who has so much power to bring media attention to any cause they want to speak about but only choose to speak about their own agendas. MIA on the other hand is very well versed and active in most international causes

That's MIA job if she wants people to know that Muslim Lives Matter since that's her religion, not Beyonce's. Beyonce is speaking on what she's informed and educated about. Bey is Black, so of course she's going to say Black Lives Matter, and the term Black Lives Matter doesn't mean that other races, or situations don't. It's just a term that Black People should be treated equal too.
