"Beyonce's Lies Exposed Again"
Quote:
Beyonce has been called out again for her fake songwriting – Oh look, it must be Thursday!
The latest instance comes from hit music producer Soundz, who went into great detail on Beyonce’s bogus writing credits during an interview with That Grape Juice (I can put our blogger beef aside for a quick moment for this). Soundz, who produced Ciara’s “Gimmie Dat” and Rihanna’s “Skin”, spilled the beans on Bey when discussing Usher and Beyonce’s duet “Love In this Club Part II”, which he also produced.
“No no no {laughs}! Beyonce didn’t do it [write "Love In This Club"]. She’s an artist who believes that she’s a superstar and she needs superstar writers to write for her…”
“I rather a person be a superstar than be a superhuman,” he continues. “I think that singers are supposed to be like superheroes; they’re supposed to do things that we can’t do. When I do a song, Beyonce knows she does things that no one can do so she realises that she doesn’t have to write it; she’ll just cut the hell out of it.”
He then continued when questioned as to why Beyonce’s name appears on all her writing credits if she didn’t actually write or arrange the songs, revealing that Beyonce still takes a whopping TWENTY PERCENT of the song’s publishing despite not actually having done anything to warrant it.
“Well, she promotes the record to the highest level. She’s the best in the game at promoting a record and when she does one of your records you’ll get a single, radio, commercials and movies. There are so many different types of money that comes with Beyonce when you do a record for her so it’s kind of like the price of admission – the price to get all the other aspects is that you have to pay a little bit.
“She’ll want a little publishing and that’s guaranteed; she’s going to ask for it and you’re going to give it to her; no ifs, ands or buts. She’s going to make that record the biggest hit in the world so give her that publishing. She’ll take about 20%.”
So he’s basically saying that Beyonce almost runs her own type of payola scheme — which is illegal — for all her music. “Hey, I’ll get your song on the radio, but only if you pay me 20% of the publishing.”. Meanwhile the songwriters who worked hard on actually writing the lyrics and arranging the music are unjustly having money they’re entitled to taken out of their pockets and handed over to a woman who already has annual earnings of $87 million (according to Forbes).
Sure, these writers could just decline to work with her, but put yourself in their shoes – If you were a struggling songwriter, wouldn’t some cash look better than no cash at all?
It also has to be remembered that Beyonce is still receiving a cut of the mechanical royalties from her record sales, which she is rightfully entitled to and are taken from the actual record sales. It’s not like the woman is receiving nothing for all her hard work.
Anyway, after the interview broke earlier Soundz Twitter page was stormed by a mob of angry Beyonce fans (who were proven in a 2009 academic study to be the “least intelligent” music fans), who flooded the producer with abuse and caused him to Tweet, “Haha at all the stans, man I gotta watch what I say on interviews, didn’t mean any harm…”.
I look forward to the release of Beyonce’s fourth studio album next year – not for the music, but because I’m sure we’ll get a fresh wave of scandals to further expose this woman as the most corrupt popstar of our generation.
