I have returned! And what a rate to return with! I've been absent from the rate scene for a while since school has kept me busy, but Christmas break is approaching and I can revert back to my old ways for a few weeks.
This album rate features four of the biggest pop releases of 2006: Back to Basics by the legendary Christina Aguilera; The Sweet Escape by the effervescent Gwen Stefani; The Dutchess by the glamorous Stacy Ferguson (aka Fergie); and Loose by the former Queen of Pop Nelly Furtado. All four albums are decidedly pop in nature and all four women had different goals to achieve. Back to Basics is Christina's tribute to music of the past. The Sweet Escape consists of a bunch of demos put together so Gwen could cash in on the success of L.A.M.B.The Dutchess is Fergie's effort to branch out from the Black-Eyed Peas, while still using will.i.am for much of the production. With Loose, Nelly Furtado breaks away from her folksy-pop roots in exchange for dance-pop and hip-hop beats from Timbaland.
The rules of this rate are simple. Listen to the songs listed below and rate each one from 0 to 10. Zero means dreadful; ten means amazing. After you've done this, PM me and I'll calculate the averages. Once I've calculated the averages, we'll begin the countdown to see what the best songs from these albums are! There are 58 songs, but only one can win! The deadline for submissions is December 24, 2012, and we'll start the countdown on December 26th!
That's why I said "damn near." A few good highs, tragic lows.
I don't think they're bad albums, they're just alright, besides the worst song is on Back To Basics. Only Christina would have a song with clips of people praising her then calling it a dedication towards fans.

It's sort of enjoyably bad though. How can you not love her?
