Hey all. I'm new here, so bear with me. This is my weekly top 30 countdown, which I've been keeping track of for several years now in one form or another, but only recently have I been able to do a consistant weekly countdown and I thought I'd actually share it with other people to get input (and so I'm not just typing to myself every week
)
So what kind of music do I listen to? Judging from my SN, it's pretty obvious that I enjoy "out-there" type stuff like Gorillaz and Albarn's other, better-known band Blur. But I've been watching TRL since '99, and I'm open to all sorts of stuff. I'm not particularly fond of hardcore rap or country, but other than that I keep a very open mind, and hey, sometimes even one of those type songs will pop up on my radar screen - and my playlist. FYI, I live about an hour from Boston so my favorite radio stations are Boston's famous KISS 108 (pop/dance) and WAAF (rock), so if you listen to them you know what some of my tastes are. Not ALL of them, mind you.
Some things to keep in mind:
- I WILL take requests into account; however, for the most part, the countdown reflects my personal opinion.
- The numbers are pre-existing as far as weeks, peaks, etc. are concerned
- I'll update every Sunday if possible; otherwise I'll do it whenever I get the chance. Sometimes (rarely) I'll combine two weeks' stats and count them twice.
- I'm not sure why I always put the album title with my format, some sort of obsessive-compulsive thing, I dunno. But that's not stopping.
- Yeah, some of the songs aren't the newest. I discover songs at different times than others. Big deal.
- I don't retire songs. And I don't plan on doing it, or needing to do it. Trust me...my tastes change quickly enough to prevent any song from dominating for too long. (...until the next Gorillaz CD comes out, anyway, but we'll worry about that late this year/early 2005...)
