Drake Scores First Hot 100 No. 1 as Lead Artist With 'One Dance'
Quote:
"Dance," released on Young Money/Cash Money/Republic Records, becomes Drake's first Hot 100 No. 1 in a lead role, following two toppers as a featured artist, both on tracks with Rihanna as the lead: "What's My Name?" (one week, 2010) and "Work," which spent its last of nine weeks at No. 1 three weeks ago (on the April 30-dated chart). As a lead, Drake had previously peaked as high as No. 2 twice: with his debut hit "Best I Ever Had" in 2009 and "Hotline Bling" last year.
"Dance" soars to the Hot 100's summit powered by its 10-1 rebound on the Digital Songs chart, up by 32 percent to 160,000 downloads sold in the week ending May 5, according to Nielsen Music (after having led the April 30 sales list), and its 2-1 ascent on Streaming Songs, gaining by 41 percent to 37.4 million U.S. streams and becoming Drake's second leader on the list (following "Work"). The track additionally jumps 12-8 on Radio Songs (87 million in airplay audience, up 25 percent) to become his 15th top 10 on the tally; dating to Drake's first week on Radio Songs (May 23, 2009), he ties Rihanna for the most top 10s in that span.
Harris achieves his highest Hot 100 debut, besting that of his prior charted collab with Rihanna: "We Found Love" (billed as*Rihanna featuring Harris) began at No. 16 in 2010, and went on to spend 10 weeks at No. 1. Rihanna ties for her third-highest debut and, even more notably: Rihanna scores her 28th Hot 100 top 10, tying Stevie Wonder for the fourth-most all-time. Madonna leads with 38, followed by the Beatles (34) and Michael Jackson (29). Rihanna breaks out of a tie with Mariah Carey, Elton John and Janet Jackson, each with 27.
Just beyond the Hot 100's top 10, Rihanna's "Needed Me," from her album Anti, charges to a new high (22-13) and star country duo Florida Georgia Line debuts at No. 20 with "H.O.L.Y.," led by its No. 2 entrance on Digital Songs (125,000). The love song (its title taken from its "high on loving you" lyric) also rockets 39-1 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, where it's the pair's fifth No. 1.

Drake's 'Views' Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart, Sets Streaming Record
Quote:
As expected, Drake’s Views*album debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with an explosive first week. The set earned 1.04 million equivalent album units in the week ending May 5 in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music. Traditional album sales comprised 852,000 copies of that sum (a slight upgrade from the 851,000 that was previously reported).
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on*multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new May 21-dated chart (where*Views is No. 1) will be posted in full to Billboard’s websites on Tuesday, May 10.
Views is Drake’s sixth straight No. 1 album, and follows the chart topping bows of What a Time To Be Alive (with Future, in 2015), If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late (2015), Nothing Was the Same (2013), Take Care (2012) and Thank Me Later(2010). His only charting album to miss the top was his debut EP, So Far Gone, which peaked at No. 6 in 2009.
Views’ songs were streamed a record 245.1 million times in the U.S. during the tracking week. That sum includes plays of the album’s songs on Apple Music, as well as the handful of songs from the set that were available at other streaming services like Spotify. Previously, the biggest week for streams from an album was Justin Bieber’s Purpose, which racked up just over 100 million plays for its songs during it debut week (ending Nov. 19, 2015). Views’ 245.1 million streams for its songs equates to 163,392 SEA units. (Each SEA unit represents 1,500 streams.)
Overall, Views’ overall units (album sales, TEA and SEA combined) is the largest for any album in 2016, and the biggest since Adele’s 25 collected 1.19 million units in its fifth week of release (week ending Dec. 24, 2015).
Elsewhere in the top 10, Beyonce’s Lemonadealbum slips from No. 1 to No. 2 in its second week, shifting 321,000 units (down 51 percent). It sold another 196,000 copies (down 60 percent).

so in terms of pure sales, Lemonade is the 3rd best-selling album overall of 2016 so far and 2nd best-selling 2016 release [#1 for female]. I think she can eventually pass Drake.

Yeah, she seems to be having nice longevity.
Drake will only decline from here [as far as pure sales go] so I think she may be able to catch up.
