- Doogle's Best of 2013 - | TOP 20 ALBUMS [#20-#18 DONE!]
Welcome to Doogle's Best of 2013!
It's been a very busy year for music, and I'm happy my first year on ATRL was this year because we've seen countless releases; some smashing HARD and destroying everyone's faves and some flopping horrifically and becoming the hot topic of conversation on here.
Over the remainder of December I will be counting down both my Top 20 Albums of the Year and my Top 10 Classics (10 old songs released before 2000 that I became addicted to in 2013). Then, in January I will be counting down my Top 100 Songs of the Year, based on play counts and chart points from my weekly top 40 chart. Not all the songs will be from 2013 (though the vast majority are) but they are the songs that had the most impact on me this year.
Starting very soon, I hope you all enjoy it!
Thanks to my friend for making the banner, since I'm hopeless at this stuff.

Thanks, guys! I'm all set to begin so I think I'll start with my Top 20 Albums now.
Before I do, I thought I'd just start by saying that whilst I have given a lot of different albums my time this year, and made sure I listened to a wide genre of music, the end result for this was mainly pop albums. Just so you know what to expect from it. I'm also not including BEYONCÉ because whilst it's easily in my top 20 albums of the year, I feel like I haven't had enough time with it to place it in somewhere and bump everything down, especially I have already finished everything for the top 20.
Anyway, enough rambling. Without further ado, let's begin shall we?

#20
Justin Timberlake
The 20/20 Experience
Timberlake didn't disappoint with his comeback album - a great collection of songs with his signature sound that really surprised me on first listen. Expecting to be bored to death by the length of the tracks, it ended up flowing really well and making for a great listen. There are a few bad tracks but the good ones outweigh them. Considering how female-dominated my top 20 is, Justin’s inclusion is a sign that despite a lot of mediocre releases from the men of 2013, Justin’s shone through.
Personal Highlights:
Pusher Love Girl, Don’t Hold The Wall, Let The Groove Get In

Nice start. I used to play Mirrors a lot when JT's album came out.

Nice album, even though it wasn't great enough to hook me in and get me addicted for a large amount of time.

20/20 didn't make my albums chart, but some songs made my songs chart! A decent record, good for any occasion

Thanks, guys! This will be JT's only appearance, sadly I was one of many that didn't think 2 of 2 was really all that. More coming later today!

Jake Bugg
Shangri La
Controversial English songwriter Jake Bugg’s second LP is a step up from his debut, released last year. Despite appearing to be quite a vulgar person, I can’t deny I have a real soft spot for Jake and his music. It’s most certainly not the type of music I usually listen to, but this album was a simple and interesting listen that clicked with me straight away. If you, like me, stick primarily to pop and fancy something different for once, I definitely recommend this.
Personal Highlights:
A Song About Love, Kitchen Table, What Doesn’t Kill You

Eliza Doolittle
In Your Hands
Three years after the release of her fun, colourful debut, Eliza returned in the summer with infectious lead single “Big When I Was Little”. Sadly, her long-awaited comeback failed to make any kind of mark and I feel like the release of this album went almost unnoticed. It’s a shame, too, because this album is deeper and slightly more mature which was a much needed change for her. Although whilst I think this is a nice album, I do still prefer her debut simply because the change in direction Eliza wanted to make here didn’t manage to go the full way. There are a few tracks that just fall short or just plain don’t feel like they fit.
Personal Highlights:
Hush, Walking On Water, Don't Call It Love
