Iggy Azalea is taking to Twitter yet again to defend herself from naysayers who aren’t exactly on board with her brand of hip hop.
For, just days ago, rapper Eve and songstress Jill Scott joined the ranks of a growing list of emcees and entertainers including Q-Tip, J. Cole, Nicki Minaj, Azealia Banks, Eminem, and more,
who have expressed displeasure with the Aussie hitmaker’s “blaccent” (Black accent) and overall image.
Their message did not fall on deaf ears, however. And, despite not singling the ‘With This Ring’ duo out, it’s pretty clear the two were included in Azalea’s mass reminder and defense of her authenticity.
Longtime fans of the Aussie hip hopper know this isn’t the first time Eve has lent her disapproval. Back in 2012, the “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” maestra took to an interview to give fans a piece of her mind:
“I’m not really into the Iggy Azalea chick. I can’t really **** with her music, but her look is crazy. I just can’t believe it.” – Eve (source)
To which Azalea responded:
“I like Eve,” she said. “I used to be like, ‘It is real, let me prove it to you
. Now, I don’t care if you think it’s real or not because it’s what I love, it’s my life. I don’t give a **** if you think I am or not ’cause that girl in the crowd understand it and that’s who it’s for, if you don’t then it’s not for you.” – Iggy Azalea (source)
