When a retail store closes at 6:30pm, it really closes at 6:25pm.
When a retail store closes at 5:00pm, it really closes at 4:55pm.
When a retail store closes at 6:00pm, it really closes at 5:55pm.
Ok that's all

What's the purpose of this thread lol?
But yes, it annoys me. If it's going to close at 4:55, why say 5? :/

Because it's selfish when a customer comes in one minute before the store is closing. Especially when they don't know what they want (like returning something, or buying a specific item) so they're browsing, trying on things, asking for the staff's opinions, spending 5 minutes deciding. Before you know it, the store has closed 15 minutes late which is just selfish on the behalf of the team members who have been working for hours and want to go home. Because y'know, they actually have lives of their own.

Whatever. They can stay another 10-15 minutes until I'm done with my shopping.

People will never understand this because they're selfish and think retail workers are just there to serve them. That's the downside of retail.

If I could like this post, I would like the hell out of it. So ****ing true. Having worked in a retail environment gave me a whole new perspective on costumers and how disrespectful they can be.

I feel you, but you just have to grit your teeth and smile. What annoys me more is customers who come in and destroy the displays. I know we get paid to do things which include cleaning up after customers, but it doesn't mean you HAVE to make a mess. The worst is when I'm folding clothes and somebody is going through the clothes on the same table that I'm cleaning and ruining everything I just cleaned, and then they look up and smile.

Legally, that's not true. But in terms of manners, yes this is a problem.

Oh yeah obviously I wasn't talking about legally. Sorry if I didn't make that clear. I was just talking about unspoken social rules
And also, when customers take long before the store is closing, retail employees do not get paid extra. If we did, I wouldn't be complaining (as much).

People don't seem to understand the concept that we have lives, and if we let customers in at 11PM then we won't shut until 11:05PM
My store is open 7-11PM even on Sundays. Don't tell me 10:55PM was the ONLY time you had the chance to go to the store. foh
The last time we actually shut the doors at 11, two customers got trolleys and started doing ****ing weekly shops while another stole all of our steaks. So that stopped happening very quick.

Omg I HATE this so much, especially since I work in telecommunications and a customer walks in 2 minutes before we close and gets mad when I tell him I cannot do a contract for him which takes like 20 minutes. I am not waiting around unpaid because you can't sort your life out and get to the shops at a decent time to do what you want to do.
