Poll: Bigger Legacy...so far: Kelly Clarkson or Katy Perry?

I have a thread asking who had the bigger legacy between Katy and Ke$ha then it turned out to be between Katy and Kelly. So, why not make a thread about it.

Katy. Kelly ruined her legacy with My December and she never fully recovered.

But maybe she can follow Pink's footsteps since their careers are so similar.
P!nk also ruined her legacy with Try This and it took her years to recover (besides in places like Australia of course). And she still hasn't fully recovered. But its a work in progress and she's made a lot of improvement

So maybe Kelly can improve with time too.

What is Katy's "legacy"? She tied a Billboard record that the GP doesn't care about because the GP doesn't care about chart numbers and nobody seriously refers to her as the female MJ. Katy's vocal abilities aren't anything memorable, whereas Kelly has been recognized by both the pop and country worlds for her talents. Not to mention, Katy her album sales have yet to outsell Breakaway alone WW. Kelly even got a WW smash while sitting in a chair on a flop TV show not doing promo.

Just because TD was recent (and well-executed, I admit), everyone will vote for KP. But KC is severely underrated, her GH sales prove that.

For some reason, I'd say Kelly Clarkson. I mean, she was the FIRST American Idol winner which had a huge impact on pop culture. I'm not sure if that'll mean anything in 20 years, but I think it might.

Katy Perry still needs another album to prove herself to me.

Kelly was really, the first artist discovered on a modern talent show to make it big-time. She really set the standard for those singers and groups who have followed on the same (or similar) programs internationally, to have success in the music business. Not only that, but Kelly has proven to showcase true longevity, still going strong after 10 years in the industry.

The diffrence between them is that Katy chooses to stay in the spotlight and Kelly simply refuses to. She doesn't even do red carpets and don't forget that Kelly's label can really screw things up.

My question is.. had Kelly's breasts ever burst out or had she dyed her hair blue or yellow? No, she's true artist who likes to be surrounded by group of loyal fans who will come to her shows over super wide fanbase who will make her win every fan voted award.

Even though Katy achievements are bigger, I voted for flaw-free Kelly Clarkson. Her hits will always remain relevant.

you people have short term memory. I dont think the teenage dream era was bigger than the breakaway era, even though it had the seven singles and what not. Firework was big, but Since You Been Gone is bigger and more acclaimed than all of Katys singles, as is the Breakaway album.

but i mean, both of these artists dont necessarily hold a bigtime legacy to begin with...so if anything, its a wash

I voted for Katy but I meant to say Kelly. Any artist can come and snatch Katy's record for 5 #1's but Kelly will ALWAYS be the first American Idol winner.
