As we all know, Miley had probably triple the amount of attention Gaga had in 2013. After the VMAs and the start of the Bangerz era, everyone seemed to take their attention away from Gaga and instead put that attention on Miley. She ended up having more press coverage, bigger singles, bigger album sales, etc. What is the reason for this? Why did people pay more attention to Miley's VMA performance, music videos, etc. while they paid Gaga dust? From what I have been told, sex sells. But why didn't that tactic work for Gaga, who showed MORE skin than Miley at the start of her era?

Because she was seen as sane & cute before but when she did all that in 2013, the media thought she was edgy.. but turns out she's just a fad

Because the GP still saw her as a Disney girl. Meanwhile with Gaga you expected stuff like that

Everythig miley did was shocking, from her performances to her music videos and Gaga had already done every shocking thing possible and nothing new so everyone was bored

Miley was basically overshadowing everyone in 2013. The shock value of a Disney 'good-girl done bad' was the reason why Miley twerking and wearing a PVC bikini was shocking. If Rihanna or Gaga had done that, it wouldn't have made as much controversy

Bangerz was simply the better album. Wrecking Ball is probably the ballad Gaga would love to have written.

Her VMA performance overshadowed Gags and everyone talked about her & We Cant Stop + Wrecking Ball became a smash

And yet artpop still outsold bangerz

I'd have to go with better music, I prefer gaga>miley but Bangerz > ARTPOP

Because she was way more controversial. Meanwhile Gaga was done with ARTPOP even before that era

We Can't Stop was smashing before the VMAs performance though

in the end Gaga still sold more with her album, and look at it now, Gaga had much more success in 2014/15/16 while Miley is litterally nowhere.

Like you don't know the answer it's obvious that Miley got attention because of her controversial performance... from a classy disney star turning to what she was during that night, twerking , having more of a sexual performance which shocked everybody, while Gaga was just dancing, wearing different outfits which GP found something normal from Gaga so obviously they focused more on Miley
