Rihanna's live vocal ability has always been criticized and still is to this day, my question is why is Rihanna's vocals always criticized, and what can she do to prove that she can "sing live".
I've seen Rihanna live and I think she is a good vocalist live, not out of this world incredible but certainly not bad. Her vocals have always been criticized by other fan bases, and several critics. What do you think she needs to improve on for other fanbases and the critics to stop criticizing her vocals?.
Even with these great vocal performances she still hasn't changed some people's minds, about them not thinking she can sing live...
Maybe because when one is justifying the vocals of Adele , Beyonce , Kelly Clarkson , Lady Gaga , Xtina etc they have a wide scope of videos to choose from. However when it comes to Rih you guys post the same 3/4 videos (Those two Stay performances , California king bed one and occasionally that Russian Roulette performance) They were unimpressive the first time and will stay that way

She can have the best live vocals, but people who don't like her will say she has a bad voice, which is not the truth. But hey, I'm already used to that, and as long as there are critics and people recognizing her vocal talent, and as long as I like it, I don't care what the others say.

I've always thought Rihanna was a good vocalist though, even in 2005/2006 she has improved so much over the years, but I've never heard a Rihanna live performance and thought "that was terrible".
She can sing fine live. Can she sing better than some other pop stars? No, but that doesn't make her a bad singer. The only people who think she can't sing live are pressed beyond all recognition.
She could use some more breath support tho. She sounds like she's out of breath from time to time (the last note on "Stay" being a key example).
There's not much she can do. Even when she gives great performances and shows vocal growth, the same people are still going to say that she can't sing. It's sad really.
Rihanna can sing, its just when you put her vocals side by side with Adele, Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Ariana Grande, Bruno Mars, Kelly Clarkson, P!nk. Her vocals just aren't nearly as good as theres. Shes above average as timber said, but shes not sickening talented with vocals.
