Secondly, i apologize if i get any facts wrong or offend anyone. I am legitimately curious.
Majority of the religious will tell u God.
Personally, I think it was a common practice in multiple religions when we were uneducated humans. Which then evolved into a law, in which we can get government benefits from.
Historically, it was used for multiple reasons its not today. And even today, the definition of marriage varies between religion.
Do you think it derived from government or religion?
If you say religion, and are for marriage, but atheist:
Why do you want to support a religious invention? Is it 100% for the government benefits?
To the people fighting for marriage equality, and are the above:
Why do you fight so hard for something that really doesn't change anything? Aren't government benefits enough? Why do you want the governments acknowledgement of your love? Isn't you and your partners enough?
"Education < Job < Marriage" is how a majority would describe how they want their life to go, but
As a society, do we know that Marriage is the right way to proceed?
