I'm a New Zealander, and I am so disgusted. There were so many iconic & meaningful flags, and it got narrowed down to this boring regurgitated version of what we already have? Ugh, the black and white fern is the best but the colour blocking is . Another travesty by this hopeless National government.
They're all pretty ugly. Why are they changing the flag anyways? isnt it apart of their history?
It's part of colonial history, hence why we want away with it. Represents our ties to England via the union jack, not our gradual shift towards being an independent state and ditching the monarchy.
The black and white ones seem appropriate and iconic, but they NEED color. They can't be black and white and looking lifeless. Many people would actually confuse b/w with classiness, but in the case of a flag it seems like the emblem from a secluded and perverse organization.
