Hello ATRL, and welcome to my first “best of”!At first I wasn’t going to create this thread but a special friend from this wonderful site (Hello Anna! ) convinced me that I should give it a shot. My best of will only compile of my top 20 albums according to myself. Picking the albums wasn’t really a tough job, it was organizing them into a chart-like order was the trouble. Personally, I wasn’t that good at making charts but it was fun making this so here goes nothing. My list is pretty diverse where it draws records from pop, R&B, hip-hop, and alternative music.
This album took me by surprised. The album does live up to its lead single’s name Replay because this album has a lot of replay value. The album is full of danceable songs and they present a good debut for young Z. I just hope Hollywood records doesn’t pay her dust because the potential. It’s a good starting point and I hope she develops into a fully fledged artist. The slower paced songs are definite missteps in my opinion. Looking forward for what she has to do next.

Selena finally realizes that she doesn’t need “The Scene” to make a good record, and I’m glad she did. Stars Dance is ultimately her best record yet. The electro-pop influenced album showcases Selena as a more mature yet still not so mature if you get what I mean. The album doesn’t really slow down and is a constant electronic dance pulsating through the whole thing with the exception of Love Will Remember and maybe even the title track (which is the best song on the album). Even if it is a cohesive record it does have its generic moments in the album.
Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had a great evening and not as hungover as they were last year.
Will be posting #18 right now, and it's NOT a pop album.
Drake’s protégé released his second album (first if you consider his debut as just a mere collection of mixtapes). Kiss Land takes the listener into a weed-y almost numbing experience. If you smoke weed, you might wanna do while this album acts as a soundtrack and if you haven’t tried it before or maybe don’t want to, this will definitely give you a sense of what it feels like (it did for me). The album starts off at such a great note and the songs just keep getting better but at the end it just starts to lag, you might even get bored with it. It’s just a good record to chill and relax to but if you don’t have that much patience, you better just skip this album.

2013 was definitely Miley’s year. Bangerz is the soundtrack to all the madness that she was up to this year. This record was designed to be carefree and to be taken lightly. A very fun record was what Miley wanted to make and she got her wish. But the best songs on the record are the slow songs. Miley has a great voice and she shows it off so perfectly on the ballads. A ballad album would be very interesting to hear from Miley but until then let’s enjoy how Miley sings about dancing with no panties on.
