Hello, and welcome to my best of countdown for 2014. After my 2013 countdown turned into a massive flop on my part, I've decided to retry and actually see it through until the end this year. I'm very excited to post my rankings for this year because, despite the general consensus on this site, 2014 was one of my favorite years for music, probably my favorite since 2012. My taste is more along the lines of indie/alternative pop, so expect that kind of music to make up the bulk of my lists. I'm not the best at graphics, but I will try my best to make this all look nice!
The top albums were picked according to four different criteria: songwriting, production, cohesiveness, and replay value. A numerical score of 1-7 was assigned to each of these metrics, and then the average was taken to determine an album's final ranking. Ties were broken in the oh-so-scientific method of asking my boyfriend which albums he enjoyed more.
The schedule will be as follows: December 17: 35-29 December 24: 28-22 December 31: 21-15 January 7: 14-8 January 14: 7-4 January 21: 3-1

Additionally, any song that was released on an album or EP, or as a single in 2014 was eligible for this category, so songs that were on albums released in earlier years, but saw a mainstream single release this year are in this category. Additionally, for the sake of fairness, any individual artist will only appear on this list once. All the songs will be released in sets of Spotify playlists.

The final category, artists to watch in 2015, is a list of artists who are either slated to release in 2015 or who are emerging and could release in 2015 that I'm excited for, this category isn't ranked in any particular order and is simply reflective of my own opinions. This entire category will be posted on January 28.

I forgot to check out the Alpines album! When was it released?
I really liked Sucker (she'll probably be on my list next year), Luminous was alright, but I thought the rest were less than enjoyable. Never heard In The Seams though.

Oasis came out this past May, but I only found out about it about a month ago! I really liked Sucker, but the second half does all sound samey, so it let me down a bit there.
