On two separate occasions she was able to get away with using other well known artist's (at the time) vocals in her song and blatantly passing them off as her own since the other artist was uncredited. The first instance happened in 2001 with Play. The song was written by Christina Milian and she can clearly be heard on the chorus. This one is less noticeable so I can see why it may have slipped through the cracks.

The second instance came shortly after in 2002 with Ain't It Funny (Murder Remix). This song was written by Ashanti and her vocals can be heard all over the record. J Lo really pushed the envelope and was barely present in her own song.

How was she not exposed back then? I feel like today doing something like this would have been career suicide due to all the backlash.

Christina Milian was not well known at all when "Play" came out. She had a minor hit later that year and then finally a big hit in 2004. Also, her vocals are much more obvious than Ashanti's in the Murder Remixes of "I'm Real" and "Aint It Funny" and no one cared. People knew it was Ashanti singing backup in those two songs anyway.

I know she's not known for amazing vocals but it seems very fraudulent and shady to do what she did.

Because she was popular because of her image/booty rather than her music.

Who cares? Easter Dean sings the Super Bass chorus and is Nicki's most successful song.

People in BeyondBeautiful (JLo fan forum) who edited the track to see if she's singing the chorus, in both tracks you posted she is singing it. They toned her voice down however and made her a back-up singer instead of the main. Get your facts together before posting something.

My childhood has been a lie. I used to love what I thought was J Lo but it was really just Ashanti and Christina Milian.

The difference though is that Ester Dean was credited and its pretty well known.

I saw somewhere that some parts of If You Had My Love is not her either

Damn sis. Why you being so hostile... I apologize that I did not know this. However it all still seems shady. And don't get me wrong, I was a huge J Lo fan back in the day. I bought physical copies of J Lo, J To Tha Lo Remixes, and This Is Me... Then when they came out.

If the vocals come with the beat, you don't have to credit them. Rappers do it all the time. I don't really see the big deal, it's not like she sang the entire song.
