Ellie Goulding scores her second Number 1 album with Halcyon
It's been a long time coming, but today
Ellie Goulding has claimed her second UK Number 1 album with Halcyon!
2013 was a huge year for Ellie Goulding, and 2014 already looks to be going one better as Ellie claims her second UK Number 1 album with Halcyon.
Halcyon
may have taken a steady 65 weeks to reach the summit of the Official Albums Chart, but the summit it has reached! Featuring the Top 40 singles Anything Could Happen, Figure 8, Explosions, How Long Will I Love You, and her first ever Number 1 hit on these shores, Burn.
Originally released in October 2012, the follow-up to her chart-topping debut album, Lights, was initially kept off the top spot only by Mumford & Sons’ Babel. A deluxe edition of the album, re-titled Halcyon Days, was released last August sending it back into the Top 5.
Halcyon has now sold nearly 665,000 copies in the UK to date.
Gary Barlow holds firm at Number 2 today with Since I Saw You Last, while
Beyonce climbs one place to Number 3 with her self-titled latest album.
This week’s Top 5 is completed by Robbie Williams’ Swings Both Ways (Number 4) and John Newman’s Tribute, which climbs 11 places to Number 5 today.
High Climbers
The Lumineers are this week’s highest climbers, up a massive 39 places with their eponymous debut album, re-entering the Top 40 at 29.
Rudimental’s Home and Haim’s Days Are Gone are up 27 places each to Number 7 and Number 13, while Irish rockers Kodaline climb 25 places to re-enter the Top 40 at Number 40 with their debut, In A Perfect World.
