She can carry a tune. But she's no powerhouse vocalist. Her biggest singing quality is the unique tone to her voice that sets her apart from the others.

I wouldn't agree with those two actually.
Janet could KILL it vocally in her prime, especially live, she had true vocal talent and IDK if she still has it but that has yet to be seen.
Avril is above average I'd say, she can really hit some notes and has surprised me time and again, but she's not amazing.
Of course for Afterfood Britney would be the only singer who can not sing. And if you want to talk about old times... Man, you're SO wrong about Britney.
Anywayz, Britney can definitely sing. But, like Alexz said, she's not like those 'powerhouse vocalists'. That's actually what makes me an even bigger fan, her voice is unique, she stands out from the others, and she doesn't even have to scream her eyes out trying to hit high and higher notes for that.

What the ****!!!! B. Spears could blow at one point in time. To bad she been brain washed so bad she wouldn't know how to use her full voice if you payed her. And to the person who said Janet was average singer is crazy!!! Her vocals in the past are far from average.

Huh? I'm a Janet stan and even I know that's not true. She has always been talented, but not gifted--there is a difference. She has a weak voice but she is (was) good at using it, always very consistent when she sings live. However the only vocal performance of hers that really impresses me is on "Scream."
