Disgusted with it all, I decided to start a thread for a group who actually MATTERS. ladies and gents....
AVENTURA.
Who?
Quote:
Aventura is an Spanish/English language bachata music group formed in The Bronx, New York in 1994. The group comprises lead singer and featured composer Anthony "Romeo" Santos, guitarist and producerLenny Santos, bassist Max Santos, and singer and composer Henry Santos Jeter. Aventura has sold over 1 million albums, and are also known for their hit singles "Obsesión", "Mi Corazoncito", and "Por Un Segundo".
Why?
Second highest-debut of the week, surpassing sales by English language artists Mos Def, Sonic Youth and Pleasure P.
Quote:
With first-week sales of over 47,000 copies, Aventura's album "The Last" has the best sales week for any Latin album in the U.S. since 2007, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The last time a Latin album had a better sales week was when Wisin & Yandel's "Los Extraterrestres" sold 53,000 copies in its first official week of sales in November 2007.
Aventura's showing on the Billboard 200 at No. 5 is the best since Mana's No. 4 showing in Sept. 2006, when "Amar Es Combatir" sold 87,000 copies in its first week. Back then, in digital Latin music's early days, "Amar Es Combatir" sold 3% of its copies digitally in its first week. By contrast, Aventura's first-week sales of "The Last" were 9.2% digital. That percentage might have been higher, if not for the fact that Aventura did a slew of in-stores in its opening week.
Wisin & Yandel's most recent chart-topper, "La Revolucion," sold 13% of its albums digitally in its first week.
WHERE / HOW / WHEN?
Quote:
Huge following in U.S., Dominican Republic, and various countries of Latin America. Their reign of terror begun in 2002 with the smash hit "Obsesion" which would later go on to be covered by present day nobody Frankie J in 2004. "Obsesion" charted high in various European charts including top 5 in Germany. Their charisma, style and slick blend of the Spanish and English languages, and diverse musical templates have broadened the appeal of their genre and appealed to many who may have never even thought to listen to bachata.
What?
THE LAST.
For starters:
Spanish language cover of *NSYNC's song from their 2002 album We Broke the Rules.
Aventura is the best. They are from a country. Sad this is the last album, hope they get back again in the next years. You shouldnt post this in this forum when almost everyone cares for Rihanna, Ciara, Britney, Hillary Duff , HSM, and all that pop crap. But Aventura is the top Latin Act right now, no doubt

OMG, just . DEATH at all the sheep coming to this thread looking to boost their post counts.
I'm pretty sure I already proved WHY they're relevant. Top 5 for a Latin market act with no English radio play? Remarkable. Just cause Vicente Fernandez or WHOEVER'S POPPIN' IN MARCAIBO, VENEZUELA () will never accomplish such a feat, don't get mad at me. I mean, Karlos, what's your country's greatest export? Coffee beans?
And babe,

I've just heard his name and the song is good.
Just cause your friends jump off the bridge, doesn't mean you should too.
