Kelly Clarkson Returns To Pop Music, New Album In 2008?
SOURCE: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,291060,00.html
Kelly Clarkson gets the picture, finally.
There was no bucking the system, and no going against Clive Davis. Sources tell me that Clarkson has agreed, through her wise new manager Narvel Blackstock, to make a pop album for release in 2008 with songs selected by Davis and his team.
Clarkson's acquiescence comes at the end of a long melodrama concerning her current, turgid album "My December," which features a lot of ragged self-penned songs by Clarkson about a relationship gone sour.
Davis didn't like the album, considering it was the follow up to Clarkson's multimillion selling "Breakaway." But he released it, and Clarkson responded by dissing him and then apologizing earlier this week.
In the meantime, "My December" is sort of free-floating away now, and will probably sell a respectable 850,000 copies in the U.S. and maybe the same worldwide.

I heard Don't waste your time has been announced as single #3.... so right now I don't blame her plus Davis & company for wanting to toss a new album out in 2008.
F ![sick](images/smilies/images/smilies/sick.gif) x news. (no offense to the poster)

I'm glad that Kelly won't fall off the face of the earth, but My December is such a great album that I don't want to flop. ![:(](http://www.atrl.net/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/frown.gif)

It's interesting. I like her now more than I did at the peak of her popularity with the last album. Maybe it's because she's not overexposed this time. I mean, there was a point with her last album that you heard a Kelly Clarkson song twice an hour on our local radio station. I was burned out.

I know what you mean. I feel like I need to be drunk to tolerate that song, now. If he hadn't bought her a drink by now, chances are he's not going to.

I mean even though they want her to release in the album in 2008. i hope it doesnt mean right at the beginning of 2008. a new single is normally every 3 months, so sober came out in july, so it will end in september. she should have time to release 2 more singles (hopefully "how i feel" & "one minute"). clive would be stupid to no longer release singles or promote My December. the album will sell over a million if they keep the singles and promotion going.

![:(](http://www.atrl.net/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/frown.gif) One Minute is so much better than DWYT...i wish she would release that. I have been very vocal over the years about how much I dislike Kelly Clarkson's music but in this case I actually think Sober is a good, if not great, song and I wish she had radio's support with it. I really believe that this album could (or at least deserves to) match the sales of Back to Basics (not that the two albums are anything alike, but I think My December is worth a platinum certification). My first prediction a while back was that this album would go 2x platinum but it isn't looking as likely now. I think most diehard Kelly fans would like this album a lot, they just need a bit more convincing which means there needs to be more singles and more radio play. I hope Kelly makes a more commercial album later on but I hope Clive doesn't force her to compromise on everything.

This could be true.

Clive Davis Quashes Clarkson Beef
Yesterday afternoon, Clive Davis received the Music Visionary Award at a luncheon for the Music for Youth initiative, and as pop music's reigning arch-duke of divas, was received with reverence, flattery, and, inevitably, rumor-mongering. Enter Kelly Clarkson, the former American Idol turned ingrate turned apologist.
Davis, the 75-year-old chairman and CEO of the BMG Label Group, fielded reporters' questions with characteristic aplomb, dismissing ever-so-wryly Clarkson's very public tantrum and disses as non-issues: "Kelly's been an ... important artist from the very beginning, so I'm delighted to take her back on track, and we'll be gettin' to work on her next album real soon." Onward and upward!

To be honest i wasnt actually surprised by this. Kelly said that she would do whatever her label wanted if they gave her MD. they gave her MD even if they didnt support it now she has to keep her end of the deal. but wuts surprising is bthat its so freaking soon. MD came out a month ago for G*ds sake.

I would still push Chivas, How I feel, and/or One Minute myself.
I still say she can hit a double platinum certification by Christmas with My December

Yeah. But i hope they can actually support MD...i dont even know if Sober was released or not.
Of course i knew this album wont outsell Breakaway since it's an artistic album, so hopefully the pop/rock album they are working on can.

I think she should release Judas or One Minute as the 3rd single. I thought Sober (where da hell is the video for it, btw?) could save the album, but that's not happening 'til now. It's a shame, btw.
Anywayz, the truth is MD doesn't have real hits like Breakaway had. I bought the album, and I think it sounds too experimental sometimes, so I understand why Clive Davis realized it would be risky to release an album like this.
P.S.: For God's sake, DO NOT release "Don't Waste Your Time", Miss Clarkson. :-/
