#1 Mainstream Top 40 Hits Rate ‣ And the winner is...
The Mainstream Top 40 chart debuted on October 3, 1992. The chart measured actual monitored airplay from data compiled by Broadcast Data Systems. The Top 40 Mainstream chart was compiled from airplay on radio stations playing a wide variety of music. The first number one song on the chart was "End of the Road" by Boyz II Men in 1992. During the 1990's, mainstream top 40 went from R&B dominating the airwaves in the early 90's to rock and alternative music becoming the premier choice in the latter part of the 90's.
The first set of songs are from 1992-1997. You will be rating songs that hit #1 on the Mainstream Top 40 Chart from a 0-10, decimals are okay. The deadline is April 20, 2015.

I remember the absolutely massive staying power of Real McCoy's "Another Night" in 1994-5. That song had an incredible run on the Mainstream Top 40 Chart. Billboard ranked it #2 of all time. I think the Goo Goo Dolls "Iris" from 1998-9 ranked at #1, though I think "Another Night" had the stronger chart life and should've finished on top.
