I think she and Scotty are the most musically compatible finalists to ever come out of Idol! They both excel in Country and Lauren has potential for crossover hits as well. Additionally, they can do songs together without it seeming out of place, and that'd be a GREAT marketing gimmick!
Lauren was my favorite in the finale though. Her voice is innocent and vulnerable, but it packs QUITE the punch!
I hope she goes more Country/ Pop for the next single, so it can crossover better. But I totally knew I wanted her album from her audition on. What do you guys want from her album?
Lauren Alaina injured on 'Idols' tour
Lauren was practicing walking in high heels when she fell down the stairs
"American Idol" runner-up and new country star Lauren Alaina will be performing on the Idols Live tour in a cast for the next couple of weeks.
Lauren was practicing walking in the high heels that she was going to wear in a number and fell down some stairs. She tells Country Weekly, "I open up the second half of the show. I wanted to try on a new outfit, which was this short dress and really high heels. I was pretty nervous about performing in the high heels, so I decided to practice before the show by walking down some stairs at the venue. Well, the stairs weren't really even, and I ended up falling and spraining my ankle and hitting my head."
Lauren sprained her ankle pretty badly, and her doctor has ordered her to wear a cast for two weeks. She says, "I'm stubborn, so I'll probably only wear it a week. It's really hard to perform in it."
Earlier this week, Lauren tweeted, "Good news &. Bad news. It's not broken but I have a third degree sprain and I have a boot and crutches! http://yfrog.com/kjfpdbqj"
Lauren prettied the cast up by bedazzling it with little diamonds.
"In the meantime, she has picked all her songs for her first album. Now she has to do the vocal tracks. "I love upbeat songs that people can dance and have fun," she said. "But I also love country music that tells a great story. I think I got some of both." Among the writers she's working with includes Brett James (who helped write "Flat on the Floor" and "Jesus Take the Wheel" for Carrie) and Luke Laird (Carrie's "So Small") She hopes a song or two she helps write will make it on the album. Does she feel the pressure? "Absolutely. I'm definitely nervous about it. 'American Idol' is all cover songs. I now have to do songs nobody has ever heard before. It's going to be interesting to see how people respond."
