Why has Beyonce stopped being consistent?
This is NOT a shade. I like her music, and she's like my 3rd most listened pop gurl on my last.fm
So, I have always wondered about Beyonce's steep decline in sales from IASF to 4.
She is like the safest pop artist out there that I know. She has a devoted fan base, and her private life is void of any scandal that has potential to cause any backlash.
Her music is safe, too. All her songs (or at least singles) are about the very common themes in pop music: empowerment, "I'm over you, you don't deserve me", "I have the hot for you", and such. Some of her songs are not very catchy, but most of them are radio-friendly.
Moreover, she's loved by her label, and she's married to a rich dude. They always have the biggest promo budget for her.
Overall, what I mean to say is that she has everything, and flop / underperformance should not happen. Why is the public suddenly not interested in her music anymore?

Because she's bringing nothing new to the table anymore and other singers (Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift) have gotten to the point where they switch things up and build anticipation more and generate more interest from the GP.

I think the first time we've seen Bey being inconsistent was in the 4 era. Her previous eras all did really well.
The public didn't connect with 4 but they sure did with Grown Woman. Many people can quote the "I'm a GROOOOWWNN woman!" Part. And even then 4 didn't do too bad. It had two Top 20 hits. That's not a smash era but not a complete flop either given how well the album sold with no true hits.
I personally wouldn't regard Bey as inconsistent until that happens again, and we won't know until she starts era 5 (I'm still mad at how messy she's been lately, though).

Because she's always overshadowed. I mean, her biggest era was CIL. At that time, Christina, Britney, Avril, Shakira, Dido, Cher, Jessica Simpson, double her numbers.

Honestly, it's the promotion and the fact that she's managing herself. Had she used her brain and released earlier this year, she would have her biggest era ever.

Inconsistent?
DIL - 9-10 million
B'day - 6,5 million
IASF - 7 million
4 - 3 million
How is that not consistent? 4 under-performed for obvious reasons. Nobody was here for Run the World and I think that turned a lot of people off, then she refused to handle her other singles properly. Better not happen again.
As for safe... Crazy in Love wasn't safe in 2003. Ring the Alarm wasn't safe in 2006. Run the World wasn't safe and is never gonna be safe. Her music can be a bit polarizing.

She's been doing the same **** for her entire career and people are taking notice. Also any hype for her new work has died and I will never understand why she performed at the superbowl and not take advantage of the promo

Receipts for Jessica.. and Cher? What?
Anyway sorry but no one really remembers Avril, Shakira, Dido, Cher, or Jessica's hits from that time period. But Crazy in Love is still a classic.

You gotta realize 4 was her only non-mainstream album, and the only album she has that you can consider a "flop" whatever your definition of that may be.
If Beyonce would have just put out some commercial music, it would have been a different story.
People love Beyonce, whether you guys want to admit it or not. Everything she does makes headlines, including a simple hair change. Unreleased music is claimed as singles because people are so thirsty to hear her on the radio.
Simply put, the woman is going nowhere and still has plenty of relevancy to play up on.
You'll see when the first single drops.

No one can quote "Grown Woman" unless you're a stan or interested in pop music.
And the public couldn't connect with 4? The lead single was about female empowerment, similar to the vein of Single Ladies and that did relatively well in the US. BTINH was sugar made for pop radio that touched on a very relatable topic regarding relationships. Etc.

Well 4 wasn't necessary radio friendly.
It was a superb R&B album, but when the GP is so in love with hearing the latest trends in pop music.. 4 had nothing to offer the GP because it was too R&B, and sounded unlike everything that was over powering the radio at the time.

Beyonce is the safest artist out there..... the only polarizing thing about her music is whether you like it or not
