Does Beyoncé need #1 hits?
Beyoncé hasn't had a #1 hit single in six years.Since her last #1 with "Single Ladies", she has gone on two sold-out arena tours, her current stadium tour with Jay-Z and released two #1 albums. Her music and performing skills continue to be praised by critics and fans with her songs being on best year of lists by notable publications and stellar concert reviews by journalists. Not to mention all her other successes, some of which include, performing at the Super Bowl, becoming one of the richest entertainers alive, and breaking multiple records. Still, after all this success since her last #1, ATRL continues to downplay Beyoncé's success and many say she is nothing without hit singles.
So my questions stands, Does Beyoncé need #1s? Is her career dead without them? Are other artists bigger and better because they have #1s even if they lack in all other departments?

So you're saying Beyoncé isn't relevant?

Not anymore.
As a fan I don't really care about them either. Great if it happens, don't care if it doesn't.
Plus she's experienced going #1 9 times in her career, I think she's content. All she seems to care about now is the quality of her work.

She doesn't need them and she doesn't want them.
"My focus is not bigger, it's quality" Her words.

The OP says it all, she has the world at her feet without a #1 for 6 years. Not that that means she hasn't had a hit, Drunk In Love was clearly massive, even though it didn't hit #1.

Yes if she wants to be considered a legend. She will need about 5 more. Rihanna, Janet, Whitney, Mariah, and Madonna have already succeeded at this.

Eh, hits don't really matter as long as the music is good.
Personally (my opinion), her music quality isn't good either. She had some nice songs, but for the most part, it's really meh.

No. She has #1 albums. ATRL needs to realize that singles aren't everything.

Beyoncé doesnt need #1's in 2014.
She is the definition of a modern day R&B girl.

She had only one moderate hit this era and look what happened. Her album is nowhere to be found on charts.

No, she doesn't. The records she broke with the release of her latest album should be enough to reinforce her superstar status to the GP.
Although a couple of top tens and top five singles would be nice.
