This is why I'm not too sad about Dems losing the House. Repubs will actually have to assume some responsibility now. But considering their entire platform is "MORE TAX CUTS," let's just say my expectations aren't very high.

You'll have to talk to the Supreme Court about that, because it won't pass through any sort of vote, at least not any time soon.

Though SCOTUS is pretty conservative too so...

The President can't pass or vote on bills, he can lobby or veto them. That's up to the house and senate to get things through and he signs off on them. It'll be a cold day in hell before those Evangelicals ever vote to allow gay marriage, abortion, stem cell research, etc... Thus we'll never truly follow our 1st Amendment.

As long as the Senate is Democratic it's going to be constant gridlock... no tax cuts will be passing anytime soon, especially not with Obama able to veto it even if the Senate & House agree--because if they did there would still never be a 2/3 majority.

Because the US has separation of powers, so Obama can't get rid of DOMA on his own. The scope of his power shouldn't be overestimated.

He has stabilized the economy and prevented us from entering into a deep recession/depression...

I mean Bush got 8 years to f.uck up the country and you all only giving Obama 2 years to fix everything???

I take it you didn't click on the link huh? The thread in actuality is a thread to honor the things he has done that have been overlooked due to the slanderous campaigns the Republicans ran this past election.

Lets all be honest with ourselves. Nothing was getting done with democrats in control. Now Republicans have some control and in turn have some responsibility. If they screw things up, everyone will turn on them (again) and we will be back to democrats in control. Both sides will now be forced to work with each other. Maybe something will get done this way.
