Yeah but don't u find this West/East divide a bit outdated? The Cold War has been over for almost 3 decades and central Europe moved on. They are all in the EU and their politics is Western orientated, they do not ally with Russia anymore etc...

I'm sorry but how can you guys put the Czech Republic on the same page with Russia for instance? As I imagine when you talk eastern Europe you mean Russia/Ukraine included, right?

For geographical purposes only, for cultural stuff I only use Western/Eastern.

The only European subdivisions I use are Western/Eastern Europe, since it was the way I learned in school, and Scandinavia because their culture seem a lot different from the rest of the continent.

It's not a political thing for me, I just base it on the map.

Personally, when I say Europe I mean it in a more political sense, like EU I guess. It does not include Russia or Turkey for me. If I want to talk about Russia, I say Russia, not Europe.

I only use the term Eastern Europe for countries such as Bulgaria, Romania, Poland etc.

It's like, Europe has 2 parts : Western and Europe so I don't use Central Europe, just Western or Eastern Europe basically
