Golden Globe Award-winning Christian actress and Olympus Has Fallen star, Angela Bassett, took a break from her busy schedule to take in some musical theater.
She showed up for a Los Angeles presentation of the hit Broadway musical Fela!, featuring Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child.
On Tuesday, April 30, Williams openly gushed on Twitter, saying, “I ABBBBSOLUTELY adore” Bassett, expressing excitement that the respected film actress, who has some Broadway experience of her own, attended the show at Ahmanson Theatre.
Last year, Bassett earned glowing reviews for her role opposite Samuel L. Jackson as a mysterious motel maid, Camae, in playwright Katori Hall’s fictional drama “The Mountaintop,” set in the Lorraine Motel in Memphis on the night before the 1968 assassination of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
Williams has also received praise from Blog Critics’ Harvard Prize winner, Jon Magaril, who notes her “sparkling voice” and “bright presence” in the role of Sandra Isadore, Fela’s lover and teacher, who introduced him to the work of Malcolm X and Angela Davis during his time in the states.
