Plus-44 Speak Up, Finish Debut
If Mark Hoppus' recent tell-all interview with a Blink-182 fan site wasn't enough drama for you, his new band Plus-44 will further delve into the Blink breakup. Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker tell MTV.com they are "99 percent finished" with their debut, titled When Your Heart Stops Beating.
"Now that the record is done, we get the chance to tell the truth about everything," Hoppus said. "We want to say, 'Here's the truth about Blink, here's the truth about Plus-44.' We're not talking sh-- — we just want our fans to know the truth about everything."
The duo say that the album will have 11 songs, including the title track, "Little Death," "Chapter 13" and "No It Isn't," which leaked out in demo form earlier this year. The record is expected to be released on November 14 through Interscope.
"The whole album is about everything that's happened, including Blink, and the ugly feelings that were left over afterwards," Hoppus added. "Lyrically, it's some of the most positive stuff I've ever written, but it's also some of the darkest sh--, too. And I'm incredibly proud of it all."
As for Barker, who has been in the public eye recently due to his divorce, the drummer says that Plus-44 will give him an outlet to get away from his troubles. "Anytime I'm struggling or in a place where I have to keep my head above water, it always makes me get even deeper into my music," he told MTV.com. "So yeah, I'm really looking forward to getting out there and playing. In a way it's weird, because this band has been about making the best out of a f---ed-up situation, and now this tour is, too. I feel like every few years something goes down with me where I have to prove myself again. And that's what this is, but it only makes me stronger."
