Conspiracies are real so surely some must be true like the people who used to say the government were spying on us turned out to be right in a sense (although that one was obvious) but these are rare cases.

Most of the conspiracy theories I've met are regular people. Some are highly sophisticated. I haven't met the loon conspiracy yet, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Even my friend, all American girl who believes and trusts the government, offered up some theories that she didn't feel comfortable believing were true (she's very patriotic), but saw a bit of truth in some.
I would say ''most' people don't know how to do research. Well, of course if you're watching YouTube videos uploaded by random people claiming 'oh my god she's wearing purple and that's the color of satan!' It takes more than reading secondary source articles online or watching videos on YouTube to determine if a theory has any base to it.
