ATRL Grammar Correct...GENERIC
This thread is quite simple, more often than not words like, "Iconic", "Reductive", and "Impact" get thrown around all day everyday on this site. This thread's main purpose is to hopefully get rid of my biggest pet peeve, GRAMMAR. Now when I say grammar I'm not talking about missing commas, periods, and run on sentences, no. I'm talking about using words one doesn't know the meaning of incorrectly and/or ****ing up elementary school learnings, ex. (They're, Their, There). The first word that has been killing me softly is REDUCTIVE.And yes I know some of you have been using it in a satirical/spiteful way, but most of you have actually tried to conquer this word and have failed miserably. And It is quickly becoming overused and no one seems to know the meaning of it
Reductive > Reduction > REDUCE
When something is "reductive" it means, it is reduced/simplified. Say for example you want to explain rape (for whatever reason ) to a class full of 5 and 6 year olds. To do this you plan to make some sort of drawing, a diagram, comic strip, stick figures, etc. Your drawing would be considered "reductive" or "reduced" because the "crude" nature of the subject and the ages of the kids you are teaching warrants for it to be "simplified" and less detailed. In music it is pretty much the same shtick. When Madonna called, BTW "reductive" she meant it was a BASIC version of "Express Yourself". Simple. Really simple.
Next is "iconic"
Cultural Impact

I know what it is "Reductive", because we have a similar word in portuguese.
Whatever you meant with this thread, the shade still there. And this is not about grammar.

You seem to have a problem with spelling and semantics, both of which have little to do with grammar.

I don't know what grammar means in Portugal, but in America grammar is used as a general word for attaining to spelling, punctuation, words & meanings, and even sometimes idioms or proverbs. Either way not here for your technicalities and ****ery, if you don't like the thread, there's a little red X in the right hand corner of your screen that you can put to good use.

In America grammar is used as a general word for attaining to spelling, punctuation, words & meanings, and even sometimes idioms or proverbs. A lot of the time people use the phrase, "The semantics of grammar" They actually really go hand in hand. Other than that I really don't like the way the word, "semantics" anyway it irks me the same way the word, "moist" does. And you will deal with my thread the way it is or exit. Simply put.

Throw in a suggestion! I've gotten really good at breaking certain things down to people via helping out at my local Kiddie Corner for community service

I don't know why everyone spell it "lessor". When it's clearly incorrect, Google works wonders.

People have been using "reductive" to mean "derivative". They're not that far off.

I know it's done purposely, but I hate when people stick "ew" into words. For example, someone would say "hew?" when trying to shade/joke or whatever. So tacky.
