The majority of my male friends cringe when I start playing pop music, well female pop music but pop music is ruled by females at the moment.

A friend told me once that I should only listen to Urban and hip hop because pop music is very gay but I can listen to Nicki Minaj, beyonce and rihanna because they are black and kinda of ghetto

It's the dumbest thing ever, there are a lot of people that don't listen to pop music if it doesn't have a hip hop/urban feature in it.

I usually listen only to Hip Hop and Dubstep, but Rihanna is a 'guilty' pleasure for me. I also like some House and some Katy's stuff (E.T.)

one's musical taste doesn't define their sexual orientation, they're just being ignorant and close minded. I loath people with that mind set.

The last few years have been very stale for mainstream pop, i never liked an album released this year (in the pop genre). The past couple of were good for alt/indie pop (Nicola, Marina, Kimbra, Mika, Gotye). A few males are fairly good popstars (Enrique & Taio).
I now mainly listen to alt pop and Rock, even though i bop to a pop album every now and then.

As weird as it may seem, I think it depends on where you're from.

In public, I only listen to Drake, Lil Wayne, Tyga, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj's rap stuff, Beyonce, Rihanna, and Mariah's ghetto remixes (like Obsessed with Gucci Mane).

I'm bi but pop music doesn't make me any less of a guy.
