so yeah, I brought this back. Lets see how long it lasts. for every debut i'll add some info on the song, so there is a bunch of that with the first one.
10.Kanye West feat. Adam Levine-Heard Em Say
Day 1/Peak:#10
-I was hoping for 'Touch The Sky' with Lupe Fiasco(more on him later), but this is a really awesome song as well. The video will be directed by Michel Gondry, and the concept is that it takes place in Macy's in New York involving little kids and magic. not sure what to make of it, but knowing that Gondry is doing the video, it should be amazing.
9.Queens of The Stone Age-Burn The Witch
Day 1/Peak:#9
-Ever since I heard the 'Lullabies To Paralyze' I wanted them to release this song, and now they finally did.the Video will be directed by Liam Lynch, and will have a bunch of CGI skeltons and the like. It should be awesome.
8.M.I.A.-Bucky Done Gun
Day 1/Peak:#8
-nothing to say just that it's a catchy as hell song.
7.Rev Run-Mind On The Road
Day 1/Peak:#7
-'Distortion' leaked last week, and it's a great album. Only real downside to it is it's very short at 22 minutes long, but it's great for those 22 minutes. Run's MTV show 'Run's House' premiered last week, and it's a great show. Run is hilarious without trying to be, and there are good life lessons learned.
6.White Stripes-The Denial Twist
Day 1/Peak:#6
-this is an amazing song. the video will be directed by Michel Gondry, and will have a cameo by Conan O'Brien. The concept sounds great:
Jack and Meg play on scrunched-up flattened Late Night stage with dwarf Conan, Jack and Meg walk over to elongated Late Night desk with tall Conan, Jack and Meg leave in scrunched up elevator and scrunched-up sports car and then watch the show in their miniature weird-perspective apartment, where they're joined by the real Conan. The whole video is one long camera shot, so all the sets were built in a circle in one big room on a Greenpoint soundstage.
5.Ghostface-Be Easy
Day 1/Peak:#5
-the almighty Ghostface returns with this Pete Rock produced banger. Ghostface being one of the members of the Wu Tang Clan has seperated himself quite a bit with his incredible solo albums. his new album 'The Fishscale' should be coming out December 13th.It'll sure to be one of the best this year.
4.The Darkness-One Way Ticket
Day 1/Peak:#4
-This is off their sophmore album 'One Way Ticket To Hell... And Back' coming out November 29th. The album was produced by classic Queen producer Roy Thomas Baker, and should be one of the best of the year. nothing much else to say about the song except RAHCK.
3.The Strokes-Juicebox
Day 1/Peak:#3
-This is a very different sounding song for the Strokes, and should garner new fans who dismissed them after the first two albums(O being one of them). The new album 'First Impressions of Earth' comes out January 3rd, sadly just missing 2005. It should leak in time for the holidays so it should be a great internet Christmas present. Another song off the album leaked a few weeks ago 'You Only Live Once' which is a very poppy-ish song for them, and could be a single down the road.
2.Weezer-Perfect Situation
Day 1/Peak:#2
-the =w= made a good choice in picking this as the 3rd single. after alienating some of their core fans with the first two singles, this is classic Weezer. awesome intro, great hook(even if it's just one word), and I think it should be a big hit for them. The video was shot yesterday by director Marc Webb(all of the My Chemical Romance videos, Brand New 'Sic Transit Gloria') with Elisha Cuthbert being in the video.
1.Lupe Fiasco-Kick Push
Day 1/Peak:#1(1)
-First made an impact when he got on Kanye's Late Resigation on the Just Blaze produced 'Touch The Sky', and damn near stole the song from Kanye. now with his forthcoming debut album Food N Liquor he's gonna blow up huge. You can check his song out on his Myspace page
www.myspace.com/lupefiasco. definitely a breath of fresh air to hip hop.
Ghetto song of the Day:Redman feat. Ghostface, and Ludacris-Future Thugs(off Redman's upcoming Red Gone Wild album)
and there you have it. request, recommend, and all that good stuff.
in the words of Stephen Colbert, I'm not going to read the news to you, I'm going to feel the news at you.
