People in the industry still want it to be the way it used to be, but it's not going to happen. Spotify is the answer to illegal downloads yet the industry still isn't happy.
I was perplexed about Taylors decision cause streaming is obviously the future but after doing a bit of research im glad Taylor did this despite this meaning a negative impact on her charts cause she's standing up for unknown artists and contributors to get fair pay for their work
the problem isn't streaming itself its Spotify paying thier artists next to nothing

Well if an artist gets paid like $200 for hundreds of thousands plays then what's really the difference?
Eh whatever. He's a millionaire too I'm sure looking at his songwriting discography. I mean, I know these people deserve payment for their works but when they're already rich as hell it's hard to feel bad. Much more important things going on in the world.
Exactly. Even tho i feel bad for Spotify, a lot of people dont benefit from it
"I have a lot of money, but I want more, I'm mad!"
The consumer benefits from Spotify, and they are what matters. 40 million plus users. It's not stopping because rich people feel like crying cause the public won't pay 15 dollars for their dumbass albums.

They're not happy because they continue to lose their salary. Spotify pays virtually nothing to writers and other people involved in the composition of a song, and at the same time the use of Spotify is overtaking the use of illegal downloading AND legal purchases, meaning the revenue from purchases is declining at a much more rapid pace than the revenue from streaming is currently increasing. It is literally temporarily wrecking the industry.

Seeing you're trying to come off as "I stan for indie & acclaimed artists, I'm superior to you all" with that sig where do you think those unknown artists & their producers mostly get money if Spotify pays them literally nothing?

You say that as if it's a bad thing. This industry NEEDS to change, and streaming is the answer.

So the fact that Spotify makes it virtually impossible for new and independent artists to break out with their tiny checks, the fact that it inconveniences entertainers more than it benefits consumers... is that not worth noting?
