Casandra Elizabeth Ventura was born in New London, Connecticut on August 26, 1986, to a Filipino Father and African-Mexican Mother. She attended The Williams School, a preparatory school in New London. She trained as a singer and dancer, and took voice lessons. Cassie began modeling at the age of 14, and by the time she was 16, appeared in print ads for Seventeen and the catalog for popular teen line, Delias, represented by Wilhelmina Models. When she graduated from high school in 2004, she decided to pursue her career in modeling and singing. After high school, Cassie moved to New York City, and continued modeling, as well attending classes at the Broadway Dance Center.
Ryan Leslie spotted her at clubs and parties in late 2004 frequently. The two wrote a duet called Kiss Me, and after recording the track, Leslie played the song for music executive Tommy Mottola. Mottola offered Cassie a management deal, and Leslie signed her to his music-media company, NextSelection Lifestyle Group. Leslie wrote and produced Cassies first single, Me & U, in 2005. The song became a club hit and started to become popular on the Internet, mainly thanks to MySpace. During this time, Diddy heard Me & U in a club, and Leslie convinced him to partner his Bad Boy Records with Leslies NextSelection imprint for the release of Cassies debut album.
The album, 'Cassie', was released on August 8, 2006 debuted at number four and sold over 100k copies during its first week in the US. The lead single Me & U peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100, selling more than 1 million digital downloads and becoming one of the most popular songs of the year. She also released a second single "Long Way 2 Go", which was more successful in Europe. After receiving backlash for her first live performances, Cassie and her label opted to cancel the album's promotion later that year.
As an artist, Cassie often voiced that she is musically influenced and inspired by a number of performers. These include Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Madonna, Aaliyah, Stevie Wonder, Nine Inch Nails and Queen of Latin Soul singer La Lupe. She has referred to herself as a die-hard Janet Jackson fan and has expressed, Id love to emulate Janets careertotally Shes incredible, from her moves to her voice.
MTV News reported in June 2007 that contrary to rumors, Cassie had not been dropped from Bad Boy Records after releasing two singles from her self-titled debut album. Diddy said that she was in the studio working with producers Kanye West and Pharrell Williams on her second album. It was reported in 2009 that Cassie was no longer collaborating with Ryan Leslie, who had produced the majority of her debut album. In April 2009, Cassie revealed on Twitter that she had shaved all of the hair on the right side of her head generating headlines all over the media. It was also reported Cassie had started dating the CEO of her label, Diddy.
In 2008, Cassie appeared on her first film, the sequel to popular dance movie 'Step Up'. She also contributed to the soundtrack with a Ryan Leslie produced track, "Is It You".
On July 22, 2009, Cassie announced that her second albums title would be 'Electro Love'. Three singles were released from the album; Official Girl featuring Lil Wayne in August 2008, Must Be Love featuring Diddy in April 2009, and Lets Get Crazy featuring Akon in August 2009.
After failing to achieve commercial success with the singles, the album was delayed several times with Cassie eventually signing a new record deal in the beginning of 2010 at Interscope Records. She was then featured on a worldwide campaign for Calvin Klein's CK One brand. She also became a spokesmodel for Black women's beauty line Carol's Daughter. In 2011, two new promotional singles were released to hype the album, "Make You A Believer" featuring Jadakiss, and "Radio" featuring Fabolous. Cassie had also been featured on music videos by Kanye West, Chris Brown, Wiz Khalifa and others.
On February 2012, Cassie released a new single "King of Hearts". The song was praised critically but failed again to debut on the Billboard charts. She premiered the official video and later performed the song on BET's 106 & Park show. Cassie was also featured in tracks by Machine Gun Kelly, Far East Movement, N.O.R.E., among others. In July 2012, Cassie announced in a letter to her fans that she has been working simultaneously on her album and a new mixtape entitled "RockaBye Baby". The single, "Balcony", featuring Young Jeezy, was then released in September. At the same time, Cassie also appeared on the debut single entitled "The Boys" of rapper Nicki Minaj's number one album re-release "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded - The Re-Up".
"RockaByeBaby" was released on April 11, 2013, featuring production from Rob Holladay, Da Internz, Young Chop, Mike WiLL Made It as well as guest features from Rick Ross, Meek Mill, Wiz Khalifa, Pusha T, French Montana, Too $hort, Fabolous, and Ester Dean. The mixtape promotion saw the early release of a promotional remix "All Gold, All Girls" on January 24, and the tracks "Numb" featuring Rick Ross on April 2, and "Paradise" featuring rapper Wiz Khalifa on April 9, alongside its respective music videos. "RockaByeBaby" has been downloaded over 630,000 times and, with over 2 million views as well, it's been certified 2x platinum on DatPiff, making it one of their most popular mixtapes ever.

Cassie is also featured in the intros of some songs from Diddy-Dirty Money's "Last Train To Paris" Prelude, most notably in "Shades". She was also given background vocals credit in the official "Last Train To Paris" album, including in the single "Coming Home".
I really like Cassie's voice. It's so soothing. I remember when I was a teenager, I was in love with 'Me & U' .. It was my jam .. Then I loved her second single 'Long Way 2 Go'
Then I never heard of her again, so I guess I'm not much of a fan.
Then this year, I heard her on Nicki Minaj's song 'The Boys' .. I had the misconception that she had changed her style but I was surprised to hear that soothing, melodious voice again, which stood out.
I'm glad that she is under the spotlight again. l'll sure be checking on her new stuff.
I think you're missing "Planet VI - Sex, Drugs, & Rock'n'Roll (feat. Cassie)" and "DJ Webstar & Young Deion - BFF (feat. Cassie)" under the features.
I NEED a 320 kbps version of Talking Like This in my life. That song is criminally underrated, it never gets the appreciation and love it deserves! I love sultry, sexy Cassie songs.
OMG. I've never heard of Runaway Love -- how have I not heard of it? I'm seriously ashamed as a Cassie fan. *hangs head in shame, goes off to Youtube to listen to the song*

I added the Planet VI track, thanks!! Yea, that demo came out a long time ago just after Ludacris & Mary J. Blige released their version IIRC. I added that and "BFF" to the unreleased/demos section even if she's clearly more like a featured artist but for some reason I never group those with the other features (same for "Stray", lol
& I need 320 kbps versions of so many songs I wish she would just post the final/high quality versions of most of her old leaks that will not be used anyway someday (of course that will never happen though)

Ugh, her voice sounds so good on Runaway Love; I love when she harmonizes with herself! This is like getting a new Cassie song, thank you! I'm sure I've seen this on the sidebar on Youtube, but there's so many "Cassie demos" out there that aren't her at all and I think I assumed that this was one of them. It's really annoying how many are out there actually, do the uploaders not listen to the song before labeling it? - _ -"
It would make my LIFE if at the very least, we got HQ versions. I wouldn't be so hungry for a mixtape because then I could compile my new HQ versions of songs and make my own mixtapes that sound somewhat professional, as opposed to these LQ recordings we have. I'm actually in the process of making three mixtapes: the catches are a) ALL Cassie songs must be used b) all snippets + skits must be used as interludes/intros/outros. I'm cropping her features too and using them (i.e., "We in the house, house, house, we in the house, house, house" from Roc Boys at the end of the song is snipped and will be used an outro for one mixtape). And I'm making album art too, which is fun! (This is my first go at photoshop, which is fun but I have NO IDEA what I'm doing). Aaaaand I went off on rambling again.

I've always enjoyed "Runaway Love" a lot.
I think while I would love to get HQ versions of some of the leaks I would definitely still be super hungry for the mixtape because I need new music!!! We had a long period when nothing was coming out at all
And I'm counting on you sharing the mixtapes with us, even if just here on the base please the features thing seems very interesting as while I have gotten used to most full versions now I'm still mostly listening for the Cassie parts
Cassie is getting the critics on Nicki's side with "The Boys" only to leave from this with another commercial flop Please take advantage of the video hype
