I know Born This Way is so different from PRISM but I was just thinking. Did they do similar in USA?

Let's analyze this.
For example, Born This Way was one of the greatest hits of 2011, while Roar was one of them in 2013. The second single flopped in both cases (Judas and Unconditionally), having a successful third single (TEOG and Dark Horse) and releasing two more ones that didn't do well.

Not at all, Gaga was desparate to out do the fame and she failed. Katy was just having fun and she STILL managed to out peak her last era in a few areas.

- 2nd single underperformed/flopped? YES
- 3rd single was a hit? YES
- 4th single a hit? NO. You and I sold 4x more than Birthday
- 5th single underpeformed/flopped? YES. This Is How We Do will match MTN's sales in a couple of weeks/months.

So it's kinda similiar. Plus both era's had huge tours, except Gaga's included mostly Stadiums, but still....

kinda in the way that btw and roar were accused of plagiarism and wouldn't have been hits had they not been the lead single, the second singles under-performed and the third singles were rush released after doing well as promo singles.

but prism era doesn't have the same consistency, great album sales nor acclaim so i'm slightly disinclined to carry on the comparisons
