Let's use this example of numbers :
digital sales - 300000
airplay - 100 million
on-demand streaming - 750000
|
The points work as follows :
digital - 300000/1000 = 300
airplay 100 million/1 million =
100 x 1.6 = 160
on-demand streaming = 750000/10000 = 75
300 + 160 + 75 = 535
so, if d = sales, a = airplay & s = streaming, use this formula :
Quote:
(d/1000) + [(a/1 million) x 1.6] + (s/12500) = total points

I've checked to see if it works & it almost always does. So the new formula, like we've suggested, puts way more emphasis on airplay than used to be.
The only reason I can't do predictions before Billboard releases there article revealing positions every Wednesday now is because they don't give us a full list of on-demand streaming numbers, and even when they reveal some with their weekly article, they only reveal
some of the Top 10's streaming points (the important/interesting ones, basically), so until they do this, we won't be able to predict.
