NCT, an initialism of Neo Culture Technology, is a South Korean boy group formed by S.M. Entertainment. The group debuted in 2016 with their first sub-unit, NCT U, composed of six members: Taeil, Taeyong, Doyoung, Ten, Jaehyun and Mark. NCT 127, a unit based in Seoul (the number 127 representing the longitude coordinates of Seoul), debuted in July 2016 with the following members: Taeil, Taeyong, Yuta, Jaehyun, Winwin, Mark & Haechan
Its concept of having an unlimited number of members is a first in history of the agency, with new members being "freely recruited".
