Britney Spears and Dubstep
Members tend to quickly discredit even the
slightest notion that Britney Spears brought dubstep to the mainstream Billboard chart, despite the strong "coincidence" of Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and, most recently, Chris Brown delivering dubstep in their music, of course, only
after "Hold It Against Me" debuted. Is it all just a coincidence? Where was dubstep
on the Top 10 Billboard chart before Britney Spears? Not to mention, the word "dubstep" was rarely uttered on ATRL before "Hold It Against Me" debuted. Does Britney Spears deserve no recognition for the wave? Thus, the question is posed one more time:
Did Britney Spears begin the dubstep trend in mainstream music with "Hold It Against Me?"
