Celeb News: Kelly Clarkson: No One Wants to Work With Me

In an interview with BBC Radio 1 Wednesday, Clarkson told host Nick Grimshaw she had a really hard time getting guests onboard for her upcoming LP, Piece By Piece.

"I honestly would collaborate with a lot of people, but everyone usually says no," "I'm not kidding you. I have legitimately asked several people that I'm not going to call out."

"I got John Legend to say yes and he's cool," the Grammy-winner continued. "I ask good people, I don't want to sing with crap people, so I mean, I ask people who are great vocalists, but I'm not going to point out anyone.... I have asked several people. Sometimes I feel like I have the plague, or leprosy, they're like, 'If you get too close…' I don't know."

Clarkson also revealed she had to say no to singing with Taylor Swift once. Not because she didn't want to but because she needed a break.

"I feel like I'm a very nice person that you might want to sing with me.... I can get country artists to sing with me and John Legend! I'm gonna keep John Legend. He's super credible and talented. I feel very good about myself with that one."

A lot of it is timing.

P!nk wanted to work with Mary J Blige but Mary said no. Then Mary asked P!nk after P!nk got back on top and then P!nk said no to Mary.

I'm guessing P!nk said no to Kelly because she's done being a popstar and is now strolling around Malibu without makeup on

I'm sure other artists are probably intimidated by her voice & afraid to be over powered, vocally. She's the real deal when it comes to vocals. I hope Piece by Piece is a big success for her because she's severely underrated..

I think its just timing really. Kelly is a great person and loved by a lot of people so I'm sure people aren't hating on her.

I bet one of those people is Bruno Mars. Pink probably just wants the right material. I don't really think Kelly needs collaborations. Adam Levine better not have said no to her after they did that tour together. I do think it was a lot to do with her image. Labels want to preserve their artist and Kelly has never really been A-list.
